Julian Hall: The Teenager Chasing His World Cup Dream

HARRISON, N.J. — Julian Hall may only be 18, but his journey has already been defined by an unshakable love for soccer. The New York Red Bulls prodigy, who became the second-youngest player in MLS history when he debuted at 15 years and 190 days, is now on the cusp of a senior U.S. national team call-up. With the 2026 World Cup in the rearview, head coach Mauricio Pochettino is expected to cast a wide net over the coming international breaks, and Hall's name is firmly in the mix.

Growing up in New York City, Hall honed his skills on the pickup fields around 96th Street and Harlem. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, those fields became his sanctuary. "At first I was the only one on the field during COVID," Hall recalled. "It was just me, my mom, and my brother there every day." While the world stood still, Hall's determination only grew. "That's something that defines me: I love the game so much, and I'd do almost anything to keep playing."

That drive paid off in spectacular fashion. In May 2026, Hall became the youngest player in MLS history to score a hat-trick, a moment that sent shockwaves through American soccer. Now, with his sights set on the international stage, Hall remains grounded. "I think anyone in the world wouldn't know what to say if they got called up," he told The Sporting News. "I would be super blessed if that happened, and it's something I definitely am working hard to achieve."

As the U.S. looks ahead to 2030, Hall represents the next wave of talent. But for now, he's content with the simple joy of playing. "I just want to kick a ball," he said. It's that pure love for the game that has fueled his rise and could soon make him a household name.
