England Fan Adds 'Just Joking' to World Cup Winner Tattoo

Sean Carrington, a 36-year-old roofer from Wigan, made headlines when he got a £550 tattoo declaring England as 2026 World Cup winners. After the Three Lions' semi-final loss to Argentina, he returned to the same studio to add 'just joking!' to the design, which features a foot-long trophy.

Carrington insists he has no regrets about the original ink. 'I'm more bothered that England hasn't won the World Cup than I am to have a tattoo on my leg,' he said. The studio, Holy Trinity Tattoo Studio in Standish, added the correction for free, though it would normally cost around £100.

The fan's spontaneous approach to tattoos is well-known. 'I don't plan any tattoo, it's just if it pops in my head,' he explained. His lighthearted attitude has won him praise online, with many fans appreciating his humor in the face of disappointment.

Studio manager Jamie Taylor said the team shared Carrington's optimism before the tournament. 'We all believed they would win,' he said. 'He's just a happy, fun lad, and we were glad to help him fulfill his original idea, and now to fix it with a smile.'
