Trump to Attend World Cup Final; FIFA Unveils Championship Rings for Winners

United States President Donald Trump is set to attend the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the White House confirmed. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called it a fitting conclusion to a tournament that showcased America's ability to host the world on the grandest stage.

Trump is expected to present the trophy to the winners, though he missed all 102 previous matches, including U.S. games. His close ties to FIFA President Gianni Infantino have drawn scrutiny, especially after FIFA lifted Folarin Balogun's red card suspension following Trump's personal request. The U.S. later lost 4-1 to Belgium.

FIFA announced that the champions will also receive championship rings, a tradition borrowed from American sports leagues like the NFL and NBA. Each ring is part of a limited edition of 2,026 numbered pieces—30 for the winning team, 1,996 for fans. The design features the World Cup trophy on one side and the winning team's identity on the other.

Immediately after the final, the captain and head coach will receive temporary rings. The full set of 30 rings will be custom-fitted and presented later with certificates of authenticity. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will attend, but Argentine President Javier Milei will not.
